iMessage Ghosting? Decoding the Silent Treatment: How to Know if Someone Blocked You

That read receipt's been missing in action, and your texts are going unanswered. Is it a dropped phone, a digital detox, or… something more? Figuring out if someone blocked you on iMessage can feel like cracking a code, but here's how to decipher the silence.

First, look for the infamous green bubble. If your messages to a contact that were previously blue iMessages suddenly turn green (SMS), that's a potential red flag. iMessage defaults to SMS when it can't reach an iMessage user.

Second, try calling. If your calls go straight to voicemail without even a single ring, it could indicate blocking, though it could also mean their phone is off or they have Do Not Disturb enabled.

Finally, try sending a text. If it sends, but you don't get a 'Delivered' or 'Read' notification (and you usually do), this is another indicator.

Keep in mind, no single sign is definitive. Network issues or changes in iMessage settings can mimic the signs of being blocked. However, if you notice several of these signs happening consistently, it's more likely than not that you've been blocked. Time to move on!
