Pimp My Map: A PoE Guide to Changing Map Item Mods!

Tired of running the same old maps with the same boring mods in Path of Exile? Want to juice your map drops and increase the challenge (and rewards!)? You've come to the right place! Changing map item mods is a core skill for endgame PoE players.

So, how do you do it? The most common method is using Orb of Scouring and Orbs of Transmutation, Alteration, Augmentation, and Regal Orbs. Scouring will wipe the slate clean, returning your map to normal rarity. Then, use an Orb of Transmutation to make it magic, and Alteration/Augmentation Orbs to roll desired affixes. Regal Orbs will upgrade it to rare!

Awakened Sextants applied to Atlas regions also indirectly influence mods by adding region-specific modifiers to maps dropped within them.
