Moon vs. Earth: David and Goliath in Space?

Ever looked up at the moon and wondered how it stacks up against our own planet? You're not alone! The size difference between the Earth and Moon is pretty significant. Imagine trying to fit moons inside the Earth – you could squeeze in about 50!

Earth's diameter measures around 7,918 miles (12,742 km), while the moon's diameter is only about 2,159 miles (3,475 km). That means Earth is almost four times bigger than the moon. Think of it this way: if Earth were the size of a basketball, the moon would be about the size of a tennis ball.

Despite this size disparity, the Moon exerts a powerful influence on our planet, controlling our tides and stabilizing Earth's axial tilt. So, while it may be much smaller, the Moon is certainly no small fry when it comes to its impact on our world!
